FMS visit for advanced training on calibration (2018)

Advanced training on meteorological instrument calibration for the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) was provided at WMO/RIC Tsukuba from 6 to 17 August 2018. The course was part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project for Reinforcing Meteorological Training Function of FMS, and followed training events held in 2015 and 2016.

The training consisted of two parts, each attended by different pairs of experts from FMS. In the first part, the attendees learned about meteorological instrument calibration systems compliant with ISO/IEC 17025. In the second part, the other two experts practiced calibration procedures relating to pressure, temperature and humidity and learned about calculation of uncertainty.
